Hey all,
Last reminder for Smith Island trip on Saturday Apr 14th with rain date Sunday Apr 15th. Still have spaces. Let Pete Webb at (443) 904-6314, <pete_webb...> or Joe Hanfman at (443) 745-7378, <auk1844...> know by Wednesday morning if interested going to Smith Island.
This is an all-day trip to see gannets up close (good for photos) along with both loons, herons, brown pelican, swallows, hummingbirds, lingering winter ducks during cruise to Smith Island. Then along causeway to the island, we may see oystercatchers, purple sandpipers, ruddy turnstone, sandering, gulls, terns, maybe brant (seen once), Then on the island, we'll expect to see all herons/egrets species, ibises, terns, savannah and seaside sparrows, fish crows, ducks, land birds like palm warblers, and other interesting birds. Last year we had about 65 species on the island and causeway. Its a great place to see those birds plus get to know the history of the island, historic houses............
If we dont get enough people, we may cancel the trip. More the better, less cash we paid at arrival. also let pete or joe know if you like a slice of smith island cake. Estimate cash only for the boat trip is $35-$50 per person.
