Subject: [MDBirding] NW DC / National Zoo - New arrivals and interesting birds (4/10)
I added several first-of-year birds and some additional interesting species during my walk-commute to the zoo this morning. One of my all time highest one-day species counts for this walk (37 species). Highlights included:

Pine Warbler (2) - FOY, both singing at zoo in pine stand near new elephant house
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher - FOY, Rock Creek behind Amazonia (zoo).
Chipping Sparrow (4) - FOY, zoo
Chimney Swift (3) - FOY, Cleveland Park neighborhood near Tregaron Conservancy
Barred Owl - calling along Rock Creek behind Amazonia
Common Loon (2) - 2 northbound fly-overs.
Turkey Vulture - rare to see one in flight this early in the morning
