Subject: [MDBirding] White-faced Ibis is a hybrid
Just got indoors to look at our photos of the South pt ibis.

At maximum zoom you can see that inside the complete white feathering around the bare face there is a thin edge of pale blue skin on the top and bottom edges of the face, exactly right for Glossy. The bare facial skin is pinkish near the eye, but gray, not bright pink, where it meets the bill. It looks like what you would expect if the facial patterns of the two species were superimposed. The eyes are red and knees red, as in White-faced.
