this afternoon I looked out a floor to ceiling window to a small deck in my back, and there was a Tufted Titmouse vigorously pecking a dead bird of the same species. It continued this for many minutes, sometimes flitting off, but returning with a vengeance. My guess: the dead bird died from impacting a window Hypothesis: the birds were a mated pair and the one was trying to bring the other back to life. Other ideas? Photos obtained.
