Bob Schaefer and I led a joint field trip of the Montgomery and Frederick Bird Clubs this lovely morning at Hughes Hollow/McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area in Montgomery County. Our group of 16 observed a respectable 52 species

We met Jim Green as he was leaving but did not get his Whipporwill, American Bittern, or Sora.

Highlights for us were the continuing male Redhead in the large impoundment on the east side, 4 Broad-winged Hawks overhead, 3 Osprey (including one carrying nest material), a calling Pied-billed Grebe, a Red-headed Woodpecker, 2 White-eyed Vireos, 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, lots of yellow Palm Warblers and Yellow-rumps, 4 Pine Warblers, a Field Sparrow, many Swamp Sparrows that outnumbered the Song Sparrows, and a male Rusty Blackbird. We also had Gadwall, Blue-winged Teal, Wood Duck, one lingering Ring-necked Duck, a distant white egret (probably a Great Egret), Northern Rough-winged and Barn Swallows along with the resident Tree Swallows, a Brown Thrasher, and an Eastern Towhee. I tried to turn a very streaky Yellow-rumped Warbler into a Black and White Warbler, but other sharp eyes in our party saw the yellow on it, and I decided, after much consideration and study of field guides, that two possible Orange-crowned Warblers were just pale Pine Warblers.

The complete list from my eBird report is below.
