Following Scott Loss's excellent report of birds at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens/Kenilworth Park in DC today (April 13), I want to report that there was a winter plumaged Dunlin briefly on mud at one of the ponds on the South side of the main gardens at KAG. I went through my records and find that this is the first Dunlin I have seen in DC since I started birding "The District" in earnest in 1998.
Other notable sightings were probably the same Purple Finch seen by Scott, FOY Chimney Swifts and a group of at least 40 Chipping Sparrows in the picnic area near the visitor center.
