Highlights from a walk around Piney Orchard Nature Preserve (near Odenton) this evening:
3 Red Fox kits playing
1 Bald Eagle
1 Greater Yellowlegs
1 Solitary Sandpiper
4 Blue-winged Teal
3 Canada Goslings
8+ Blue-gray Gnatcatchers (scattered; one or two audible at all places)
3 Purple Finches
4 Yellow Palm Warblers
1 Eastern Comma
1 Polistes annularis(?) wasp
2+ Blue Corporals (none were actually blue yet)
6 Great Blue Herons soaring above as a flock (hadn't seen more than 2 do that together before)
0 swallows
