Subject: [MDBirding] FOS House Wren at Wheaton Regional Park
Hi all,

I went up in late morning to Wheaton Regional Park (also did part of Brookside Gardens) after the morning brightened. A bit disappointing re migrants, NO warblers at all, for example. However I did enjoy my FOS House Wren, a male singing happily (near the white house in the Shorefield picnic area) and poking into various tree cavities. A fair mix of sparrows which included Swamp and Field, as well as both Kinglets, multiple Gnatcatchers, Phoebes and a lovely pair of Hooded Mergansers on Pine Lake. The Barn Swallows do not appear to be in at Brookside Gardens (they are at Kenilworth). No Bluebirds at WRP, they replaced the old wooden BB boxes last year with new cylindrical "fake birch log" types and they just do not seem as appealing. Certainly this is the first year Bluebirds have not been in evidence at the park. (The older type box on the fence at the riding stable has a pair already.)
