Subject: [MDBirding] Little Gull at Back River
Hi all,

Barry went up to Back River today doing his gull survey and found another adult LITTLE GULL (different to the one seen last week -- it was almost in full summer plumage). It was seen just upstream of Cox's Point Park, with an estimated 1500 Bonaparte's Gulls. The Little Gulls and many of the Bonies were in constant flight back and forth, quite a spectacle. There were essentially no gulls seen upstream of the Eastern Ave. bridge (that is, off Diamond Pt). There were also about 25 Common Terns and a single Least Tern. Also about 5 Laughing Gulls as well as the usual Ringers and Greater BBs.

The strong easterly wind blowing upriver probably contributed to the concentration of Bonies and terns.
