After seeing Tyler's report Jon Ranson and I chased the COMMON TEAL at North Beach. At 6:45 p.m. we had a really wonderful look from Dayton Ave Park, with the sun behind us. With our moderate scope, we could clearly see the white facial marks as well as a nice compare/contrast view with the nearby Green-winged teal. This park has got to be the best evening bird viewing area ever - the sun is just right to light up the birds in the marsh. Also had a FOY SNOWY EGRET.
Also had a nice GREATER YELLOW-LEGS very close by, which took a bird-bath, stood on a stump and preened, then started tu-tu-tuing before he flew off for a night on the town.
At Herrington Harbor, found a nice non-breeding Bonapartes Gull.

Subject: [MDBirding] Common Teal, North Beach Marsh, 4/16/13
I chased the Common Teal reported on eBird by Leslie Starr and Joe Turner. I didn't see it from Rt. 261 (the road between the marsh and the beach) but found it with some searching from the new viewing area at the end of Dayton Avenue, a couple of blocks north of 261. Nice find Joe and Leslie!
