Subject: [MDBirding] Brookside Gardens and some of Wheaton Park today

Hi all,

We were at Brookside Gardens with a non-birder house guest and also did a walk around Pine Lake in Wheaton Regional Park (Mont. Co.). We met Bob Cantilli and a friend there. It wasn't very active, Bob and friend had had an Ovenbird but we didn't hear it alas. A few bird of interest though:

Pied Billed Grebe - 1 Pine Lake
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Belted Kingfisher - 1
Barn Swallow - 8 at Gude Gardens
Tree Swallow - 8 at Pine Lake
Gray Catbird - 4 (FOS for MD)
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher - 8+
Yellow Warbler - 1 FOS (heard only) near lake
Baltimore Oriole - 1 FOS near lake dam
Chipping Sparrows -- many

Also heard a single high trilling song which I think was Worm-eating Warbler but it didn't repeat and conflicting mower noise made me a bit unsure of ID.
