My winner of the Best Warbler award at Susquehanna today--a runaway winner--is...NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. I was pulling out of the larger parking lot a little west of the bridge at the river/Deer Creek confluence when I heard what sounded like a Northern along Deer Creek. I got out and saw it flitting in the brush, pumping its tail. I drew it close; it circled me once and perched nearby several times--what fantastic close-up views. At times it was also on the ground within 10 feet. Anyway, besides the song, I enjoyed seeing how yellow it was, how heavily streaked (on throat, too, and flanks), lacking the pinkish in the flanks near the tail--as compared to Louisiana. The other new bird for me at Susquehanna: OVENBIRDS, 5 of them.

All good birding wishes,
