Kye Jenkins and I went a number of places both big and small in MD yesterday and had a good time, getting over a hundred birds.

We're quite sure we found a BLACK-HEADED GULL at Skimmer Island. It fit the major field marks--size, bill (color, size), underside of wingtips--that separate it from Bonaparte's.

At Pickering we found a Palm Warbler (our only one of the day) which sang like a House Wren. Very interesting.

Some birds from Pickering Creek: Shoveler, GW Teal, Ovenbird, Palm, Pine, Savanna Sparrow, Wood Duck, PIPIT (8), Great Egret.

From Pemberton City Park: Chimney Swift, Barred Owl, Prothonotary Warbler (2), Forster's Tern,
Virginia Rail, Brown Thrasher, House Wren. E. KINGBIRD.

From Ocean City Inlet: Red-Throated Loon (1), Royal Tern (2), Least Tern (4), Foerster's Tern (16), Gannets (24), and Common Loon.

From Skimmer Island (mainly the smaller islands): BLACK-HEADED GULL (1), Am. Oystercatcher (around 8), Boat-Tailed Grackle (lots, 20+), Royal Terns with their punky haircuts, Little Blue Heron, Black-Bellied Plover, Willet, R-B Merganser, Gr. Egret, Sn. Egret, Brant (30 or so).

From Truitt's Landing: Snowy Egret (5+), Great Egret, Clapper Rail, Virg. Rail, Lesser Yellowlegs, Gr. Yellowlegs (tons), Dunlin, Pine Warbler (2), Marsh Wren, Brown-Headed Nuthatch.

Other birds along the way: Horned Lark, Meadowlark, Kestrel, E.Screech Owl, Great Horned Owl, Turkey (8).

All good birding wishes,

Tim Houghton
