Birding was pretty good during the walk to work in NW DC this morning. There seemed to be a bit of turnover of species from the last few days. I observed 41 species over 2.2 miles of neighborhood and zoo. A quick check-in at the bird house came up empty for the Yellow-Crowned Night-Heron (I ran into Zach Slavin who hadn't seen it either).

Highlights:

Blue Jay (~80) - lots of migrating flocks overhead
Northern Rough-winged Swallow - gathering nesting material at the cow/pig barns at the zoo
Great Crested Flycatcher - Rock Creek behind zoo
American Redstart - FOY, singing on the cathedral grounds along Woodley Ave.
Yellow Warbler - Rock Creek behind the zoo
Black-and-white Warbler (2) - near Tregaron Conservancy and Rock Creek behind zoo
Baltimore Oriole - Rock Creek behind zoo
Orchard Oriole - Great Ape House, zoo
