Subject: [MDBirding] Extralimital- BAHAMA WOODSTAR in PA
There is a hummingbird just identified as a Bahama Woodstar at a feeder in Denver, PA, which is just across the border as Lancaster County. If accurate, it is the first record for the US since 1981. Pictures are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/72085905@N07/8677320268/in/photostream/, and the original post from the PA listserv is below:

At the request of Sandy Lockerman (who is away from her computer

at the moment), the previously reported hybrid hummingbird is a

Bahama Woodstar!

There is a VERY slim posibility that it is something else even rarer,

but not likely.

The homeowners have consented to visitors. They live back a stone driveway

in the woods. When coming into the area of their home please be watchful

for the children at the house and park so as not to park them in. Go to the

right of the house and the feeder is hanging in the corner of the small deck

off the back of the house. Please do not go before 9 am or after 8 pm. They

already have a guest book ready that they would like everyone to sign.

The hummer hosts are:

Delmas and Ruth Witmer

160 Mountain Road

Denver, PA 17517
