Subject: [MDBirding] Hashawha
I birded Hashawha in Carroll this evening for a brief time. Did the loop from top of hill and down an around pond.
House wrens seem to have arrived in the county 2 days ago and are singing everywhere.
Our traditional spot for yellow warbler ( back right hand corner of pond) did not disappoint. An orchard oriole was singing and doing chuk calls at us from the back end of the pond and gave us great views. Also had 2 green herons who were quite vocal on the pond trail. The white throats are still singing and in large flocks.
Other spring arrivals:
common yellowthroat
Blue gray gnatcatcher
Field sparrow
Tree swallows
Chimney swifts
No RB grosbeaks which I have usually had here by now.
No other warblers tonight although I did not have time to delve deeper on the trails.
All else were usual suspects.
