I spent a few hours birding in the county starting at Blockhouse Point and ending up at the Patton Turf Farm near Poolesville. Migrant warblers still Myrtle and Palm mostly but breeders back on territory e.g. Praire Warbler at many spots.

Highlights were:

Blockhouse Point:
Worm-eating Warbler - 2 singing most of the way down the hill in woods either side of clearing.
Black-and-White Warbler - 1
La Waterthrush - 2 pairs on territory
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
Pine Siskin - several overhead
Winter Wren - 1 still around, bouncing around next to a stream (seems late)
Scarlet Tanager - 1

Violette's Lock:
Bufflehead - 4
Baltimore Oriole - 1 singing in parking lot area
I got on late onto a pair of waterfowl heading up river and to be honest they looked most like Brant but I couldn't be completely sure.

Riley's Lock:
Palm Warblers c10included one Western bird
Only 1 Horned Grebe

Hughes Hollow:
American Bittern flushed from first impoundment on R. Seems easy to find them here this year.
Black-throated Green Warbler singing near parking lot

River Rd - "enclosed" section near swampy woods, before entrance to turf farm:
Hooded Warbler - singing in woods up the hill about 200 yds before McKee Beshers sign. Would be nice if it stuck around.
La Waterthrush on territory at several streams on outer River Rd
Praire Warblers - prob 10 singing at various open spots on River Rd

Budd Rd, Poolesville - no sign of any Vesper's but did not try for very long.

Good birding
