Hi all,

I spent a good bit of the day in Worcester Co. and had a few firsts worth mentioning. There was a Chat raising a ruckus along the south side of Truitt's Landing Rd., a little west of Boxiron Rd...he sat up higih in a tree long enough for me to get a good look and a bad photo. A trio of Stilt Sandpipers was feeding in the pond on the south side of the road at Truitt's Landing, among lots of Dunlin, both Yellowlegs, a few least Sandpipers, Great and Snowy Egrets, several Glossy Ibis, both Teal, a Shoveler drake, and more. I had a Singing Summer Tanager in the woods where Cherrix Rd. meets Truitt's landing Rd. and another one at Milburn Landing. I watched an adult Red-headed Woodpecker flycatching at ground level at Milburn Landing and had two more at E. A. Vaughn. Lots of Red-eyed, White-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireos singing at several different spots. A Worm-eating Warbler and a Pine Warbler were counter-singing a few yards apart at Milburn Landing. I don't think they could tell who was saying what...I know I couldn't at times. I drove along Sturges Rd for the first time, but it was late in the afternoon and I couldn't really spend enough time to do it justice. There were tons of Ovenbirds, some bobbing along the dusty road surface picking for insects, a few Prothonotary and Yellow-throated Warblers, and lots of singing vireos. It was such a great day to be outside, I hated for it to end.

Have fun
