Subject: [MDBirding] Wheaton Regional & Sligo Creek Parks today

Hi all,

Did things a bit differently, starting off at Wheaton Regional Park off Orbaugh Rd and walking down to Pine Lake, then driving across to upper Sligo Creek Park and doing the bike trail and area near the Kemp Mill shopping Ctr. including the storm water ponds. Actually not as good a day as we'd hoped despite the sunny weather. Only warblers were expected breeders. We did see some First of Season for both parks and also, flushed a pair of Barred Owls from a possible nesting area (location undisclosed) for good looks. A somewhat late Hermit Thrush at Sligo was nice, as were the pair of Baltimore Orioles starting nest-building near Pine Lake in WRP.

A number of cool rainy days predicted now -- spring has to get here soon!
