This morning was the annual Carroll County Bird Club field trip to the
McKeldin Area of Patapsco Valley State Park. Many migrant birds have not
arrived yet (only 7 species of warblers) but we had good views of most the
ones we saw. Highlights were:

Bald Eagle 1
Pileated Woodpecker - showing off today
Great Crested Flycatcher 1
Yellow-throated Vireo - a pair put on a good show
Blue Jay - many migrating
Gnatcatcher - many
Wood Thrush - 1 heard singing
Brown Thrasher 1
Ovenbird - many heard singing
Louisiana Waterthrush - several
Black & white Warbler - 2 heard singing
Redstart - 3 singing, one adult male seen
Parula - many singing
Myrtle Warbler - many, some singing
Yellow-throated Warbler - 1 heard only before the trip began
White-throated Sparrow - many still migrating
Scarlet Tanager - 1 singing male at close range

Many spring wildflowers in bloom. First trillium blooming today, Showy
Orchis, and three species of dandelions were highlights.
