Subject: [MDBirding] a late spring indeed
Hi --

Was going over our bird notes for last couple of years and they confirm this is a VERY late spring! On May 4 in 2012, 14 species of warbler and over 20 red-eyed vireos at Wheaton Regional Park -- and that was after a late arrival at the park due to road works. In 2012, again after a late start, 11 species of warbler and 10 red-eyes, plus FOS pewee and veery. And WRP is not as good a place in spring as it is in autumn for some reason. Yesterday we had 3 species of warbler (two of them local breeders) and no red-eyes.

Hope the southerly winds predicted in next couple of days improve the situation!
