Hi Everyone,
This morning (3 May 2013) Eric Lynch and I birded Riley Roberts Rd in the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Somerset Co. After Eric had to leave I stopped in at the Chance Inlet, Messick Rd, and then birded Green Dumpster Rd in the WMA. Despite the strong chilly wind, the birding was quite fun. Here are a few of the highlights by location:
*Riley Roberts Rd (including the turnout)* Gadwall--5 American Wigeon--2 Green-winged Teal--15 Hooded Merganser--2 Green Heron--1 Glossy Ibis--19 Black-necked Stilt--2 Yellow Warbler--1 Marsh Wrens, Common Yellowthroats, and Seaside Sparrows have been singing along the road for a while now.
*Chance Inlet* Common Loon--2
*Messick Rd* Killdeer--an adult with 3 nearby juveniles (still with single breast bands) near the pond
*Green Dumpster Rd* Gadwall--2 Blue-winged Teal--2 Hooded Merganser--5 Great Egret--18 Snowy Egret--9 Little Blue Heron--2 Glossy Ibis--9 Black-necked Stilt--2 Semipalmated Sandpiper--1 Least Sandpiper--8 Short-billed Dowitcher--3 Yellow Warbler--1
Have fun,
Ron Gutberlet Salisbury, MD <rlgutberlet...>
