Hi all,
Briefly birded around Lake Frank Dam off Avery Rd yesterday.
Still no warblers in appreciable amounts. Had 2 male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks singing in tall oaks. One Ovenbird singing. Two Savannah sparrows were a nice surprise in the tall grass along the dam, as well as two Ruby Throated Hummingbirds.
One Baltimore Oriole.
The WSSC is doing water/sewer main work in this area, so part of of a wooded area is cleared for equipment. The Louisiana Waterthrushes that used to be here last year are absent. Other birds in area:
Rufous-sided Towhee
House Wren
Carolina Wren
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Eastern Bluebird
Barn Swallow 1
Northern rough winged swallow 3
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
Northern Cardinal
DC Cormorant 1
D.Ford/Bethesda.
