Subject: [MDBirding] Black-billed Cuckoo at the Natl. Arboretum
As mentioned in a previous post, I was birding at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in DC this (Sun, 5/5) morning. The highlight there was definitely the previously mentioned RED-THROATED LOON (https://plus.google.com/photos/112438121896538083035/albums/5874604209080637297). Otherwise, it was quite slow, especially on the songbird migrant front. From there Sam Dotson, Alan Knue and I went over to the Arboretum. We covered a fair amount of ground, but we had no luck finding any warblers (No. Parula and Yellow-rumped were the best we could do - not having the luck that Kari had). The only saving grace was a heard-only BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO that Alan called out as we were driving out. The bird was heard through a gap in the row of arborvitae along Hickey Ln.

Good birding,
