Bizarre migration continues. Highlights of walk at dusk from River Road west along Hunting Quarter Road:
CANADA WARBLER (1) sang once in wet woods 3/4 mile east of intersection of River and Hunting Quarter
EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL calling at 8:13 pm, at intersection of Hunting Quarter Road (aka "Old River Road") and River Road MD (MD Rte 190), Montgomery Co, MD. Unbelievable. coming from ENE of intersection (N of River Road); as if upstream from buddhist temple. Called five or more times, unmistakable cadence though only the higher notes came through whi--wi-whew,.., thought i would never hear it sing again in my old haunts.
good birding,
