Hi everybody,

Wow, what a day! Like a lot of folks, I experienced a good showing in my 3/4 acre yard today. I've picked up 8 new year yard birds today.
It started out this morning with a nice male Blue-winged Warbler. Then, a Swamp Sparrow popped up out of one of my brush piles! This
is just my 5th record for my property in the 16 years I've been here. Shortly thereafter, I heard a Scarlet Tanager sing.

Another visit in my yard after breakfast provided my firstCommon Yellowthroat (an adult male) for this year. Then, I heard a Yellow-breasted Chat!
This is a brand new bird for my yard and became # 140. Other visits later in the afternoon produced"the regulars", but, the show was not over just yet.
I went back out into the yard around 3:30 (just after a 5-8 minute shower) and, woa, lots of activity for about 5 minutes. In that 5 minutes, (it had started
to rain again),I had:1 Red-eyed Vireo, 2 male Northern Parulas, 1 male Yellow Warbler, 2 adult male American Redstarts, 2 Yellow-rumped
Warblers & 1 male Black-and-white Warbler. So, a total of 8 warbler species for today!
