Getting back to "the point," do I undestand that the rescue people want to put the baby owls into the nest of a pair that are not their parents?
That seems weird. Will the other owls be able to raise these additions along with their own young?
When I had to feed baby screech owls (a long time ago), it seemed like a full time job, and I was getting the mice for free from a State lab without having to hunt them up myself. But, coming home every few hours to cut-up some mice for 3 baby owls really cut into my work day. Eventually, DNR found a rehabber on the lower Eastern Shore who took over the duty from me, and successfully hacked them out with a box on a tree in the woods once they could fly.
Why can't this rehabber simply take care of the owls until they can fly?
