Subject: [MDBirding] Wilson's Snipe at Kenilworth Park
Hi all,

Lisa Shannon, Will McPhail, Mardi Hastings (sp.?), and I visited Kenilworth
Aquatic Gardens and Kenilworth Park this morning (and joined up with Danny
and Callan for a bit) and saw some of the good birds other people
reported. We saw a singing male Grasshopper Sparrow west of the western
end of the second (northernmost) soccer field. Beyond the barrier we heard
two and saw one Yellow-breasted Chats, saw a male Blue Grosbeak, and heard
at least one Field Sparrow. The best bird was the Wilson's Snipe that we
flushed from a small temporary pool maybe a hundred yards past (south of)
the barrier at Watts Branch. A little earlier, at the Aquatic Gardens, we
saw and heard a Pine Siskin flying over the boardwalk heading northwest.

Earlier at the ridge area of Rock Creek Park we heard a singing Tennesee
Warbler, and I spied a Common Loon winging north. An unseen calling Pine
Siskin flew from east to west over the equitation field.

Good birding to all,

Rob Hilton
Silver Spring
