A neighbor of mine, Mary Ellen Culotta and her son, Justin, both newish birders but careful observers reported to me that they saw a Swallow-tailed Kite pass over the Germantown Soccerplex today around 10 AM. They spotted the bird coming in from SE direction and heading off towards the NW.
I got up to Soccerplex around 10:30 AM, no kite but had some Bobolinks in grassy area below the power lines.
Nearby along Old Bucklodge Ln, I enjoyed watching a Grasshopper Sparrow perched on a fence next to the road, singing and doing some sorta of "hunchbacked" wing flutter maneuver. Along the same road, also spotted a female Bufflehead in a farm pond that may be still around due to an injury to its left wing. This pond is on left side of road about a .4 miles if traveling along Old Bucklodge Ln from its intersection w/ White Ground Rd.
