SUBTHREAD: Pine Siskin and W Crowned Sp continue
Hey Don
Rancid would almost seem to imply that you, yourself are taste-testing it :)
Seriously, did you mean something else - moldy?
I store mine in a HOME DEPOT like bucket inside a metal trash can [to fend
off the mice] in the garage almost year round with no problems. And there is
the fact that grain found in the pyramids wasdiscovered to be viable 4000 years
later. It is true that the sock will sometimes sit untended for weeks at a time, but I'm not
comfortable putting that down to its having an off taste to the birds...

I stop with sunflower seeds on [appx] May 15th due to the fact that in the warmer
weather months moths will hatch out of the seed and seem to get everywhere in
the house. If I had a detached garage, I would likely not see that as a problem.

I was surprised to see a lone PISI this morning looking for but probably not finding
sunflower seeds while ignoring the full sock of thistle [rancid?]. It's been months
since I've seen one; theywere very few and far between for meIN SEASON.

A pair of WCSP was likewise seeking something under the feeders, doubt they will
be here much longer...

My hummer was back again on Sunday...not observed yet today...
