It�d been an excellent last few days. Today Catoctin Mountain and environs were slow with the cold weather but did have Hooded Warbler, Black-throated Green and Blue. A Long-tailed Salamander was an exciting find!

Yesterday at Western Regional Park there were some shorebirds in the flooded entrance �pond�. This Lesser Yellowlegs was unusual looking with very orange legs and yellow at the base of the bill. Grasshopper Sparrows and Horned larks were easy to find. Veery in the woods.

Sunday was stunning in Frederick County on the Potomac. Prothonotary and Yellow-billed Cuckoo singing. Blue Grosbeaks looking to set up nesting. 3 Wood turtles were a treat to find. Of course the odes were amazing

Saturday on May count in Howard the birds were finally in very good numbers. Chestnut-sided, Magnolias and Black-throated Blues were the best in numbers for warblers. Over 15 of each. 17 warbler species overall. The lady slippers are in full bloom.

Have had Rose-breasted Grosbeak on the feeders daily....and on Sunday with a Purple Finch!
