Bicknell's Thrush is one of my most wanted Calvert County birds. Looking at eBird distribution for 2013, it seemed like a long shot since they really don't seem to have departed Hispaniola yet but...

Anyway, I stopped along the road into Flag Ponds where I have pretty good success with various Catharus spp. (just up the hill from the stream heading into the park). I try to be judicious with tape (iPod) play but migrants are less likely to be disturbed since they're not on territory. Before playback, I had a Swainson's Thrush and a Gray-cheeked Thrush singing. During playback, the GCTH did not respond but the SWTH came into a laurel near the car then dropped down to the road about 15 feet from the car, cocking its head.

Short story, no BITH :(
