Subject: [MDBirding] Swarovski mechanics
Over the years Ive had enough bewildering experiences with my Swarovski 10 X 42s, EL, 6,3 (which I love) to almost make me want to turn to Maimonides (1135-1204) The guide for the perplexed. But since that is 3 volumes I got help from other sources.

Sometimes, for reasons I have never been able to determine, the center focus wheel will snap up, that is, go towards the optic lenses, although Ive never actually SEEN this in the act of happening. It makes focusing impossible, but just snap it down and all will be well. A certain tour leader told me this.

At other times my unit will seem to be out of alignment. If so, the Swarovski Company told me to try this, and it has worked: 1: pull the center focus wheel up (towards your eyes), cover the left eye, focus for the right eye, then, 2: push the center focus wheel down, cover the right eye, focus for the left eye. This wont work if you are a Cyclops.

My apologies if this is all common knowledge.

Heres looking at you. My fraternity was right next to the womens dorm. For some reason my fraternity brothers would often borrow my spotting scope and bins. Harry Armistead, focused on Dorchester County, from Philadelphia.
