Subject: [MDBirding] Young Pine Siskin in Silver Spring

At sunflower tube feeder and on ground, eating "leftover" sunflower and safflower. Ignored thistle feeders nearly. The bird flies well but is a bit downy looking and has very short tail. Crouches on ground until practically stepped on, then flies. Only a bit of yellow seen on primaries. Suspect bird was blown in during "big blow" a couple of days ago--have seen it around since Fri, but did not have a chance to study until tonight--thought it was a young song sparrow as they are defending their territory now.Following pics posted on e-bird:Pine Siskin 1 Downy looking, brown and white, heavily streaked small finch, yellow seen on primaries only, thinnish bill, short tail. Pictures attached. Very tame.
