Subject: [MDBirding] 40+ species in yard
Morning all,
I was out in the yard early, and finished up by 10, by which time I had seen or heard over 40 species in/over the yard. Not bad for late May. Best birds were a single flyover DC Cormorant, a continueing Field Sparrow (perhaps 2), a heard only Yellow-billed Cuckoo from the far woods, Pileated Woodpecker, N. Flicker, Baltimore Oriole, Wood Thrush, E. Kingbird, GC Flycatcher, Cedar Waxwings, a pair of Indigo Buntings (male singing, female calling), an active House Wren nesting in one of my two gourds that I made into nest-boxes, all 3 mimidae, and Barn and Tree Swallows(nesting in yard). Missed Black Vulture and Chimney Swift so far, as well as RT Hummingbird, which I have not seen in at least a couple of weeks here.

Anybody else experiencing a lack of hummingbirds?

Happy Memorial Day everyone!
