Subject: [MDBirding] WIFL whiff
Jane Kostenko and I just returned from a trip to North Dakota. Following up on Mikey Lutmerding's report of a Willow Flycatcher at Beauvue Ponds near Leonardtown, we thought we'd give it a shot. We've chased WIFLs in St. Mary's repeatedly especially since Rob Ostrowksi found one singing at Beauvue two years ago. Anyway, our bad luck persists. Nice collection of Eastern Meadowlarks along Abell's Wharf Road and one Yellow Warbler singing in the willows where the WIFL should have been. We're hoping the flycatcher Mikey had wasn't a migrant and a future attempt will relieve of us of a county nemesis!
