I ran into Brad Phoebus at the parking area near the end of the Sherwood entrance into Cromwell. We took the trail (just before the big bridge) the goes left into the woods--the area where Sherwood Farm Trail and Wellington Woods Trail coincide. (From the outside, not a classical-looking hangout for a Mourning.) Soon after entering the woods, you come to a small bridge (not the correct one, keep going) and then ANOTHER small bridge--that's the area. A sign on each side of it: one saying Sherwood/Wellington, the other saying Sherwood/Field. At that bridge, one trail goes right over the bridge, and another goes left/up. We went left/up after hearing suspicious chip sounds--and there it was, in a tangle of vines on the right. (We relocated it; originally found by Sean Stewart.) This area is somewhat open and brushy, the sort of place (once you are there) that you might expect hospitable to a Mourning. Two other birders who'd read about it on Facebook joined us and also got GREAT looks. The bird covered the area btw the bridge and the area a hundred feet up from there along the left trail, right side.

We noticed a round, dark spot on left side of the bird's breast, just below its bib--it seemed real, not dirt. Look for it if you chase it.

Adult male still there for about a minute or so and disappear into understory growth just ahead of wooden bridge at sherwood farm trail and wellington east trail. Sherwood farm trail marked orange and wellington marked green blaze.
