Subject: [MDBirding] Solomons Peregrine Falcon, etc.
Yesterday was my first day back to work after vacation. As I was driving north across the Solomons bridge, a Peregrine came shooting out downriver toward the navy base. This morning, I swung around under the bridge and parked by the fishing pier in Solomons. I found a Peregrine perched on one the stantions on the north side of the bridge just beyond one of the big white rain diverters. There is an old Osprey nest on the Calvert side of where the falcon was perched so perhaps this is their nest? They nested on the bridge during the atlas but haven't nested there for several years. If we're lucky, they're back. Not so much for the few remaining Rock Pigeons in the area ;)

Also, in St. Leonard, near the turn from Rt. 4 to Western Shores Blvd., I saw a Broad-winged Hawk! I'm assuming these guys should have moved through the area already so maybe this is a nester?
