Subject: [MDBirding] EXTRALIMITAL: Bobolinks
I drove up to Adams County, Pennsylvania (Southeast of Gettysburg, just over the Maryland line) today to see if I could find any Bobolinks. I found some, a bunch, in the tall grass, in the fields along Pumping Station Road, between Bullfrog Road and the Marsh Creek Bridge. There was a lot of Bobolink chattering in many of the fields, often close to the road. I heard more Bobolinks than I saw.
I did manage to see 8-10, maybe 12, males perching and/or flying over the fields. I found one perched female.
Also found some Bobolinks in the fields on Camp Gettysburg Road and Red Rock Road, both off of pumping station.
Also lots of meadowlarks, kingbirds, thrashers, and three species of swallows. (And a roadkill, immature, Red-tail hawk on the side of the road.).
Note: Pumping Station is a fairly busy road, and there are no shoulders, so it's pretty difficult to find places to stop and look for the Bobolinks.
