I stopped under the Solomons bridge near the fishing pier again this morning. This time, a downy chick was visible in the stick nest and an adult was perched on the next bridge pylon. Apparently the chick is old enough that the gray down is being replaced by discernable patterned feathers on the head. Glad to have them back on the bridge!
