Subject: [MDBirding] Seneca/Poolesville birding
I birded the Seneca and southern Poolesvlle area of Mont. Co.
from 10:30am - 4:00pm today and had many great looks at most of the
expected breeding birds which were nice numbers as well.

These are sightings which seemed most noteable:

There were 3 HORNED LARKS at the Polo Club off Hughes Rd.
Also 2 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS in the first field, on the left side of Willard
off River Rd. I stopped there to listen for Grasshopper Sparrow and struck
out(I think GRSP is of my aging audio-range perhaps??)but I was rewarded
with both male and female BOBOLINKS( 5 but maybe 6-7)in the tall grass.
On Westerly Rd spotted a BLUE GROSBEAK on a wire about 1 mile off Willard.
On Sycamore Landing Rd there were AMERICAN REDSTARTS at 2 locations
the 1st parking area below fields where they have bred previously
and at end of the road, where the dumpster is at the turn. Here there
were 2 males seen and another heard Redstart(female?).
At the Sycamore terminus parking area, I heard the sadly unfamiliar
call of a NORTHERN BOBWHITE... hopefully not, but most certainly a
sport hunting dog survivor.
