Yesterday, on the HMS Beagle BioMedNet web site (http://www.biomednet.com/hmsbeagle) which I receive automatically, one of their web picks was a site dealing with various natural sounds. Lots of downloadable bird songs, organized by Orders, extensive notes about the recordings, CDs for sale, and more, as well as links to birds sound recordings from other parts of the world. I have not found any Harris Sparrow songs on the main pages, but have not looked at any of the linked sites yet. The site is well worth marking as a favorite. Also related to the topic is a book I don't recall being mentioned in the earlier thread on the list: "Music of the Birds, A Celebration of Bird Songs", by Lang Elliott. This includes an extensive CD "featuring songbird concerts and solos" with commentary by Elliott. The text and photos alone are worth the price ($25). I carve songbirds, and am always looking for good reference photos. The photos in this book are outstanding; birds are caught in mid-song, with open bills. I purchased my copy at the Audubon Naturalist Gift Shop in Bethesda, but I am sure it can be found at other places.
