In Europe, the Northern Lapwing is also referred to as the Green Plover; while the Eurasian Oystercatcher (which is common in England) is sometimes referred to as a Pied Oystercatcher (maybe even a SeaPie?). There is actually a Grey Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) which winters in Eurasia, while the Eurasian Golden Plover (Pluvialis apricaria) is also known as the Greater Golden Plover. Does the British angle make more sense? Any British birders on the List?
