My primary quarry = were the previously reported Northern Shrikes. Despite stopping for = every distant mockingbird along the road (many more than I would have = expected), not a shrike in the bunch. Is anyone in the area still seeing them? =20 Numerous sparrows at Lilypons included Swamp, Song, Am. Tree, = White-throated and Field. A beautiful adult R-S Hawk perched near the = parking lot throughout the day. The winds were pretty stiff throughout most of the day, so many of the = open country birds were laying low. Along Cap Stine Rd., I did have = great views of a Merlin that, in spite of the winds, captured a small = bird and calmly picked it apart about 20 yards from my vehicle.=20 Good birding!
