SCHREITZ" Subject: Bywater Rd, Annapolis Lark Sparrow Still MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Saturday 9:45 - 10:15 produced the Lark Sparrow along with several other species; 11 northern mockingbirds 15+ American goldfinch 12 field sparrows 15+ song sparrows 6 eastern bluebirds 20+ dark eyed juncos 5 bluejays 1 red-breasted nuthatch 2 Carolina wrens 3 common flickers 13 northern cardinals 2 red shouldered hawks 1 black vulture 1 turkey vulture 40+European starlings 8 American crows 12 ring-billed gulls 1 lark sparrow I had little hope for the lark sparrow this morning. The area between the two fields where it is usually seen was filled with starlings up in the tops of the two tallest trees there. As I was leaving, I spotted the lark sparrow in the larger field. It then flew to the same tree with most of the starlings. As it landed, all but six starlings left immediately. It remained there for a few minutes and left. Some of the starlings returned shortly and they all left. That was my cue, and I left, too.
