Oriole + in DC Comments: To: "Janni, Ottavio" , Voice , "Gough, Gregory" , beemusic@netscape.net, "Stasz, Jim" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit On my ANS-sponsored field trip today (Sat, 1/15) at the National Arboretum we found an immature BALTIMORE ORIOLE (presumed female by the lack of yellow in the belly, though it was bright yellow-orange in the throat, and yellow in the undertail - also showed no sign of a dark eyeline or yellow supercilium so Bullock's was ruled out) feeding with House Finches around the crabapples near the big pond. It could not be relocated later in the day, but could easily be around. Other birds of interest include: 3-4 Red-breasted Nuthatch 1 Eastern Towhee (female) 1 Bald Eagle circling over the Anacostia (and another imm. bird was seen later in the same area) 15 Hooded Mergansers on the Anacostia 1 Common Merg also on the river (another birder reported 12 or so). Does DC count for the MOS composite list, or is it just Maryland?
