I'm sure others (like the Howard County group) will report in more detail when they return tomorrow. Sources (direct and indirect): Phil and Barbara Davis (MD) Paul Pisano (VA)/Rob Hilton (MD) John Swartz (MD) A large Howard County (MD) group (Darius Ecker, Bonnie Ott, et al.) Larry Lynch (VA) One or two groups of VA birders A birder from Raleigh, NC CBBT - Most gulls were on the ocean-side of the islands, since that was the lee side. Hope I remembered all the island numbers correctly: Yellow-legged Gull - Not found. Last report was last weekend, I think. *Black-tailed Gull (ad) - Found by Rob Hilton at about 2 pm on Island #2. Stayed mostly hidden behind a rock. Darker back than ringers was the tip off. *Glaucous Gull (ad) - Found by John Swartz on the end of the rocks on Island #2 around 3 pm. Black-headed Gull - Seen by Rob Hilton and Paul Pisano in a large flock of Bonnies, off Island #3. *Harlequin Ducks - At least three, end of rocks on Island #4 All three scoters *Northern Gannets at close range. * = first hand sighting for the purposes of the VON report. Lower Eastern Shore - Townsend's Warbler - Not found by the Howard County group Le Conte's Sparrow at EA Vaughn WMA (MD) - Not found/identified by the Howard County group (one possible, but seen well) Question / suggestion - Is there a "standard" birding channel for either CB or FRS radio while on the CBBT? If not, seems like this would be a good idea. When Barbara and I chased the Common Crane in Indiana earlier this year, they advertised a standard FRS channel for all birders to use. Might maximize findings (?)
