Date: Tuesday, January 18, 2000 1:57 PM Subject: [MDOSPREY] Eagle Nest During a recent visit to the Conowingo Dam area we drove to the = Eagle nest that was found South of the Dam. To get to it from the Dam, = one would drive on the road toward Route #1, at the top of the hill, = turn at the second left and drive about 1/2 mile to the nest. Rodney = Jones showed us the nest some years ago when he led a trip for the = Baltimore Bird Club. On our visit we couldn't find the nest and drove = back and forth on the road until we realized it was no longer there. We = did find its former location and drove to the tree that housed the nest. = The tree was down and had been sawed into several sections. There was = no nest that we could see. Roots of the stump were exposed indicating = that it may have blown down. If you are referring to the tree on Stafford road = near=20 Susquehanna State park.

The tree fell during Hurricane Floyd or the earlier = storm of=20 September. In the past month a new nest is being built even closer to = Stafford=20 road on a tree just off to the North of the driveway trees. Have not = seen any=20 birds near the new nest, but I assuming it is an Eagle's nest = because of=20 the size.
