We have checked a number of sources (private institutions and the Federal Government) that act as clearing houses for tracking imported species. Specifically, Kelp Gulls are kept in captivity at the four Sea World attractions in the US (in the penguin exhibits). Zoological parks also keep species in captivity. For example, a Silver Gull is registered at the National Zoological Park in DC ... (a Silver Gull was found in DE/NJ a few years ago). Several years ago a big winter storm destroyed buildings at a large zoo in NY and some captive gulls escaped (not "our" species, however). The good news is, that as of today, we have not been able to find any of our review species that have escaped. Hope this helps !
