I believe there was one sighting of Inca Tern in the New York City/northern New Jersey area after that. Someone else (sorry, I don't remember anything more specific; it was 5 & 6 years ago after all) pointed out that Band-tailed and Black-tailed Gulls could have been confused and that Black-tailed Gulls could have been in the aviary. It is interesting to hear the story about the Silver Gull. 1995 is when Black-tailed Gull was seen in Virginia, in Grandview, and I remember hearing that this bird (Black-tailed Gull) may have been present at Grandview the year before. Does anyone have more information about a potential Band-tailed/Black-tailed Gull? I would love to hear more information about my recollection, contradictory or supporting. Also, the National Zoo in Washington used to have 3 Silver Gulls (which I remember seeing). Once one escaped and was found a few miles away along the Potomac River (in East Potomac Park or West Potomac Park).
